Hello.
I had the opportunity to attend the first AANA State Peer Assistance Advisors Workshop in May in Chicago. There were approximately 75 people in attendance from all over the country. Diana Quinlan, Sandra Tunajek, Julie Rice and others from the national office were there. Brent Sommer and Jan Stewart’s daughter Sarah spoke All of the AANA SPA committee were in attendance. The speakers were excellent and I came away with information we can use in Mississippi. The networking opportunities with colleauges from around the country and being able to put faces with names was worth the trip. I appreciate the support of the members and officers of MANA I would be glad to talk with anyone who is interested about Chicago, wellness or impaired providers. My phone number has changed to 228-249-8822. My email remains jrstory3@hotmail.com.
Yours,
Jeff Story
The Blue Ribbon Panel of Advisors has recommended that the Definition of Wellness for AANA members should be as follows:
Wellness is a balanced state of optimal mental, spiritual and physical well-being. This state of being implies a personal possession of wholeness, resilience and awareness that includes a purpose in life. Feelings of happiness and satisfaction with life are good indicators of personal wellness.
